StudentCom, provider of phone and internet services in University Halls of Residence in the UK.
I emailed them about this, and they insisted that keeping passwords in plain text was “industry common practice” (as if that was a valid excuse) and seemed to imply that their systems depended on passing passwords around in plain text, even more worryingly. I am making a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
